Delicious food that comes from the natural surrounding of the Goto Islands.

One of the biggest treats of traveling is the foods we get to experience. When we treat ourselves to dishes that are outside of normal routine, it adds color and flavor to our journeys. While here, you will experience the harvest of both the mountains, and seas surrounding Goto. Smiles and nature are both plentiful here at the Goto Conkana Kingdom.

On the grounds of the Conkana Kingdom resort, we have two restaurants.
The Japanese-style Baramon restuarant, and the Cowbell restaurant. At the Baramon restaurant, you can taste the flavors of everything that is made here in Goto. From the fish in the surrounding sea, to the specialty udon made here on the islands, and even the beef that is raised here on the ranches. You can also try miso-flavored fugu (one of the island's delicacies). For more information check our menu below.

お食事和食処ばらもん はこふぐの味噌焼き

Miso-flavored blue-spotted boxfish (trunkfish)
Originally this was a delicacy only eaten by fisherman, the liver of the boxfish is mixed with homemade miso and then grilled. Please note, that for the sake of preserving the local boxfish population that this dish cannot be prepared between the end of November through to the middle of December. This dish costs around ¥2,500 (price varies depending on the size of the boxfish). This dish is included in several of our course meals, so please ask your chef when you arrive (boxfish is also available at the Cowbell restaurant).
Goto Udon noodles
The udon noodles in Goto are unique, and are guaranteed to be unlike any other udon that you've tasted at home, or anywhere else in Japan. Made using traditional techniques that have been passed down throughout the years, Goto udon has a consistency that is closer to pasta, yet still retains the light 'airy' texture of a traditional udon noodle.

Silver-stripe round herring sashimi
This small silvery fish can be found in the surrounding open-sea area around Goto. It is good served as both sashimi, and also delicious in a iriyaki (nabe pot dish). In order to preserve the population of this fish, it is not fished between June and the beginning of August.
